The Britain's Got Talent star said she was forced to seek 'psychological' help from doctors after being tormented by the youths.
'When I was 17 I did think about doing something nasty,' she revealed to the News of the Word.
'It was all psychological. I was damaged. I had to get help from a professional. I also had to see a doctor who gave me treatment.'
Boyle, who was born with minor brain damage and has learning difficulties, insisted it wasn't a sign of weakness to seek help.
'You mustn't be afraid to do that. It's not a sign of weakness. It gave me the confidence to fight back, knock on people's doors, audition and finally get what I wanted.' 'In my case it was a small group of teenage girls that put me to that place. They're the worst kind. It can really hold you back and damage you. Mental bullying is the worst kind of bullying.'
The 49-year-old also said she was more 'confident' and 'stable' now.
Scottish spinster Boyle who once famously claimed she'd never been kissed also said she hadn't given up hope of finding true love.
'There's still time to meet Mr Right. You can never say never to finding someone.'
'But I do think it's possible to be happy and to be on your own, you know. I've managed all these years just fine, haven't I?'
